4. John , Sr. PETERS ⁽¹⁾ was born in 1761 in VA.. He Census (4) in 1830 in Jackson Co., AL..⁽³⁾ He died before 1840 in Jackson Co., AL..⁽⁴⁾ He was buried in Woodsville, Jackson Co., AL.. ⁽⁴⁾ John was a Revolutionary Soldier.

John Peters was in Capt Bowmers Co. Enlisted from Jan to May 1778 was dis charged the following July or August . This all came from VA valley recor ds W358V2) Don't know if these are the same men.

John Peters Sr. built a log cabin near Maysville Alabama, and was list ed on Madison Co., AL. tax lists from 1811 to 1813. Before locating in Jac kson Co., AL., his younger brother Henry left Sevier Co., TN. to join hi m, and the cove they settled in is known as Peters Cove. (per David Bunton )

I read somewhere that the people around John in Alabama said that John w as a strong man, they said that he could probably lift a thousand pound s. I would say that was putting a rubber band on the truth just a little.

She Census (5) in 1830 in Jackson Co., AL.. ⁽³⁾ She Census (6) in 1840 in Jackson Co., AL.. ⁽⁵⁾ She Census (7) in 1850 in Jackson Co., AL.. ⁽⁶⁾ She died after 1850 in Jackson Co., AL.. She was buried in Woodsville, Jackson Co., AL..⁽⁴⁾ In Ethel Peters Taylors papers there is something saying that John had a w ife by the name of Miss Simms, so maybe he had more than one wife. John , Sr. PETERS and Mary Margaret PORCHE had the following children:
